Focus Group
What is it?
A focus group is a qualitative research method that brings together a small group of people (5 to 10 participants) in a room that aims to gather user insights quickly. Participants review and discuss a particular design or topic in a moderated setting
How can I use it?
Identify the theme of your study and the demographics of the participant group where you can get the best information about it. Identify the participants and decide on a suitable meeting space for everyone. Set a time span for the session between 60 to 120 minutes. It will be difficult for you to take notes as a facilitator. Ask a colleague to do it and/or ask participants for permission to record the session.
When can I use it?
You can use it to get quick insights from the potential users or to form a consensus about their perception. You can use it at an early stage as well as to collect feedback from users after the product is launched. You can apply when you need to reach the information about users' perspective, notions, feelings to the subject.
